To Strengthen the welfare of construction workers in Assam, The Assam Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has introduced the ‘Nirman Sakhi‘ portal abocwwb.assam.gov.in Under the visionary leadership of HCM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide financial support to construction workers. The portal offers new workers registration, Linked Aadhaar with eShram, and online applications for financial aid.

Chief Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma has launched the Nirman Sakhi Portal for the Welfare of the State’s Construction Workers. A pioneering initiative aimed at fortifying the financial stability of workers in the construction sector. abocwwb.assam.gov.in is a fair and transparent digital portal providing financial support to construction workers.

The Board has taken and continues to take steps to ensure that workers are not exploited, that they are provided with social benefits, and that appropriate measures are taken to ensure healthy and safe working conditions. The Board has taken many flagship initiatives for the welfare of construction workers since its inception.

The Board has registered more than 7 lakh construction workers as beneficiaries and has formulated various welfare schemes such as pension benefits, marriage assistance, maternity assistance, death benefits, skill training, medical assistance, educational assistance, cash awards, and transit shelters for the upliftment of the construction workers.

To register as a member/beneficiary with the Assam BOCW Welfare Board, please submit an online application through the Nirman Sakhi portal (www.abocwwb.assam.gov.in).

Registration Eligibility Criteria for New Worker

  • The age of construction workers should be between 18 to 55 years.
  • Minimum 90 days of construction-related work experience in the last 12 months.
  • Aadhaar card with an active mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
  • Must be registered with eShram and have an eShram UAN number.
  • Workers from other states must have worked in Assam for at least 90 days.

Documents required for registration

  • Present proof of address: Aadhaar, Driving License, Voter ID Card, Ration Card, Bank
  • Passbook
  • Aadhaar-linked passbook/bank statement
  • 90 days work certificate

Nirman Sakhi Portal New Worker Registration Process

There are two methods for New Worker Registration on Nirman Sakhi, Public Facilitation Centres (PFC) of Sewa Setu, and the ABOCWWB portal. You can check the Official User manual PDF for detailed info. Follow the step-by-step guide below to Register through the ABOCWWB portal.

Step #1: Visit the Nirman Sakhi Official Portal

Step #2: On the Homepage, Click on the “New Registration” button ” under “Construction Worker” and Click the “Click here to apply” button.

Step #3: Enter your Mobile Number and Tick “New Register

Step #4: Now fill in all the details correctly and Tick the “Citizen Aadhaar Consent”.

Step #5: Enter a valid Aadhaar number and click “Generate OTP.” The OTP will be sent to the phone number linked to your Aadhaar.

Step #6: Now Enter OTP and Click on the “Register Now” button.

Step #7: A ticket will be generated. Save it for future use. Now Fill in the basic details as asked click on the “Save Basic Details” button and proceed.

Step #8: Now Enter your Permanent Address and Present Address.

Step #9: Now Enter your Bank Details like IFSC Code, Bank Name, Branch, Account Number, etc., and then fill in Family | Nominee Details.

Step #10: Upload 90 Days Certificate, and other supporting documents and Click to save this page and proceed to the next
page.

Step #11: Preview the application before submitting and re-check the details.

Step #12: Pay the registration fee of Rs. 25/- rupees online and apply.

Step #13: After Successful Verification of the Documents and Details, Your Registration will be Completed.

How to Renew Nirman Sakhi Membership?

The registered worker needs to renew their membership. The worker must hold the ABOCW ID card issued by the ABOCCWW Board to renew membership. Follow the steps below to renew your membership now.

  • On the Nirman Sakhi Portal, Click on Online Renewal under construction worker
  • Enter the worker ABOCWW board ID card number.
  • Pay the pending subscription fees along with the applicable penalty if it’s pending.
  • Provide your consent for Aadhaar authentication.
  • Provide worker Aadhaar no for authentication.
  • Enter the OTP for verification.
  • If necessary, update the basic details, worker address, bank details, family details, nominee details, employer details and scheme details.
  • Upload the necessary documents.
  • Preview the application before submitting and re-check the details.
  • Submit the application for renewal.

Eligibility for membership renewal

  • The worker must be a registered member of the ABOCW Welfare Board and shall not have completed 60 years of age.
  • The worker shall not be a member of any other welfare fund.
  • The worker must have worked in any construction work for a minimum of 90 days in the year immediately preceding (last 12 months).
  • The worker shall not have any default in subscription fees. If so, he/she must pay the fees with the applicable penalty to be able to renew the membership.

Renewal fee

There is no fee levied upon renewal but in case the worker hasn’t paid the contribution fee of Rs. 20 per month within the due date for any of the months during the last two years or for any month(s) after the last renewal date, he/she is required to pay the monthly contribution fee for the arrear months along with the penalty of Rs. 2/- per month with a cumulative computation of penalty before proceeding for renewal.

Registered Worker Registration Process

The worker who is already registered will have to link their Aadhaar and Register again in the new portal using the Existing BOCW ID card and Must be an active member of the board and should not have any pending subscription fees.
